Uniting Communities
The Lifechannel's programme strands have been strategically developed to support the seven pathways nationally recognised as reducing reoffending:
Health - Tackling all health related issues such as Drug & Alcohol abude and providing practical advice on personal health management.
Eat - Delivering information on ways of maintaining a well-balanced diet.
Move - Encouraging the incorporation of exercise into everyday routines, improving positive state of mind.
Connect - Offering guidance on issues revolving around behnefits and debt.
Think - Encouraging shifts in attitudes and behaviours to develop cohesive interpersonal skills.
Learn - Tackling issues including accommodation, education, training and employment.
Programme content is created and broadcast by The Life Channel in short, two or three minute messages which are both interesting and useful in motivating offenders to improve their health, and wellbeing and address their offending behaviour. Programmes will be followed by brief 'story boards' which are calls to action and linked with services available within the prison or upon release.
The channel will also broadcast content produced for the prison service by other production companies subject to appropriate licenses being acquired.
