The Life Channel will be exhibiting its in-pharmacy television network at INSITE09: Constructing the Future, over the next 18 months.

Hosted by the Government's Built Research Establishment (BRE) and the Modern Built Environment KTN (MBE KTN), the exhibit highlights the major issues of our time, including the need for sustainable buildings and communities as we continue to mitigate climate change, and also the ways in which the UK's built environment needs to address the challenges of its ageing population.

Held at BRE Innovation Park, four new building projects are on show, including The Willmott Dixon Community Healthcare Campus, demonstrating 'a glimpse of future healthcare'; The Life Channel is installed on the campus in its 'pharmacy of the future'.

Willmott Dixon and partner Primary Asset/MedicX hope that the campus will give the healthcare industry a valuable insight into what the patient experience of local healthcare will be in the next 20 years. The campus demonstrates the latest developments in design, materials, build products and systems and technologies that can contribute to the UK's sustainable, low-impact future in a cost-effective way; also representing 'green innovation' which economic leaders say is the key to economic recovery.

The project will also demonstrate different ways of designing a building in-line with the NHS 2018 zero-carbon buildings target. Mike Shillingford, Head of Healthcare at Primary Asset, said, "The Life Channel is a valuable addition to the information available to patients in a new Primary Care setting. Modalities such as education and illness prevention are becoming increasingly important in the NHS."
