NHS Dorset has built up an exciting partnership with The Life Channel satellite TV network to compliment its work in getting health and well-being messages across to patients in the area.
Whilst the 2008 Health Profile for Dorset suggests that general health across the county is good, there are still some areas of concern including smoking prevalence and obesity rates. The Life Channel's innovative network gives doctors' surgeries the unique opportunity to communicate directly to people most affected by these vital health issues, as well as to promote awareness of other local needs.
"NHS Dorset is committed to supporting local people and helping them make informed choices when it comes to healthy living," said Keith Williams, Health Programme Advisor for NHS Dorset.
"Working with The Life Channel allows us to not only get these messages out across the county in a consistent way, but also to highlight some of the great work we do here in Dorset."
