A South African Christmas

A South African Christmas

29 Dec 2008

An HIV/AIDS clinic for children in South Africa was able to hold a Christmas party for its young patients all because of a donation from The Life Channel.

"I was in the clinic and found out that they might have to cancel their Christmas party as they had no money," said Phil Austin, Managing Director. "I was very happy to offer The Life Channel's help in making sure their party would go ahead."

The Life Channel's donation not only enabled Kgatelopele ARV Clinic (at Lilian Ngoyi CHC) to hold the party, but also to give the children gifts: school bags and water bottles - pink for the girls and blue for the boys.

"The doctors and child aid workers that were there told me that The Life Channel Schools network is truly helpful for the future of kids such as these," said Austin. "Your heart goes out to these children knowing their predicament was preventable. Being there just reaffirms for me the importance of getting this channel in every clinic and hospital in South Africa and perhaps other affected countries."

"[The Life Channel] managed to integrate us into your busy schedule and made yourselves available throughout the progression of the party - that in our eyes resembles that you did not give simply because you had to but with love and care," said C Ntshong, Project Manager at the Gauteng Department of Health.
