Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has been appointed to The Life Channel Communications (Pty) Ltd's board of directors in South Africa, in addition to agreeing to become the company Patron across Africa.
In her role, Mrs Madikizela-Mandela will assist with the expansion of The Life Channel Communications' network in Africa.
Mrs Madikizela-Mandela said, "I am delighted to join the board of The Life Channel Communications, which provides a fantastic means of communication to educate children and other people in need on all health matters including HIV/AIDS and much more. Having examined the effects of The Gauteng Life Channel pilot, it is clear to me that the people and in particular children of Africa will benefit massively from the presence of the channel as it expands across healthcare and schools. Aside from creating awareness of social and health issues, the channel will also provide broadband internet access to every school and health facility across the country."
Phil Austin, Chief Executive Officer of The Life Channel Communications, said, "We are very pleased to have Mrs Madikizela-Mandela join our board. The Life Channel Communications will be able to provide high-quality and reliable broadband communications in South Africa and many other African countries, in particular into rural communities."
