The Life Channel: Health

Uniting communities

In this section:

Government

The Life Channel is used by the Government and many of its departments to communicate with different communities on a local level. The environment of the GP waiting room provides a quiet, captive atmosphere for viewers to consume pertinent messaging on a variety of issues that may affect them nationally or locally, with details of how to obtain further information.

Department of Health
The Life Channel has been in partnership with the Department of Health for over five years, providing a more engaging method of reaching patients with awareness campaigns. Over the past year, The Life Channel has broadcast a number of campaigns including Change4Life, Long-Term Conditions, Stroke and Flu.

The programme strand entitled 'Health' has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Health and several leading figures within this department, including Prof. David Salisbury, Director for Immunisation, have appeared in interviews regarding the key issues affecting the public.

NHS
The Life Channel is significantly invested in working closely with the NHS, supporting campaigns nationally to inform patients of changes to the health service, whilst ensuring Primary Care Trusts can communicate regionally with bespoke initiatives on screens in GP Surgeries within their remit. Nationally, The Life Channel has recently broadcast campaigns including NHS Choices, MMR, Breastfeeding, MRSA, 18 weeks and End Waiting.

Food Standards Agency
The Food Standards Agency and The Life Channel have developed a close working partnership in recent years and they have been influential in the development of our nutrition-focused programme 'Eat'. The Food Standards Agency have also utilised the network to broadcast campaigns including 5-A-Day, Happy BBQ, Salt, Germ Week, Food Safety Week and Saturated Fats.

The Life Channel has also worked with a number of additional Government Departments in recent years including the COI, the Home Office, the Department of Children, Schools & Families (DCSF), the Learning Skills Council, Learn Direct, the Department for International Development (DfID) and the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP).
